Today we donated 365 pairs of I am Eva period underwear!

When we started I am Eva, (now AWWA) we pledged to donate 5% of all underwear produced to charities, to help fight period poverty in Aotearoa.

Today we made the first of those donations.

This morning we visited Shine to drop off a massive 365 pairs of I am Eva period underwear! That's 300 pairs provided by us, and 65 pairs that you, our wonderful I am Eva wāhine, have so generously donated. Thank you so much!

Shine’s Community Fundraiser, Carol Herbert, wrote:

Your amazing underwear will be one stress that we will be able to take away from our clients during what can be a very vulnerable and traumatic time.  Thank you for being so mindful, wanting our clients to feel loved and thought of, by including their first pair of underwear in the full packaging – such a kind thought.

I have passed the underwear onto our refuge manager and she is very excited and reiterated that so many women come into refuge with very little money to be able to afford the expensive monthly sanitary products.”

This is only the beginning in our fight against Period Poverty!

Next month we are off to Wellington to meet with Julie Anne Genter, Minister for Women, to talk about what the government can do to help reduce period-poverty. Watch this space!

Period poverty affects both women and teenage girls across New Zealand. Learn more.

You can join in the donations!

We have the option to Donate Period Underwear - including 'Corporate Sponsorship 10 Packs'. When you select these, the donated period undies will be given to very worthy charity by us.

Can't afford to donate right now? We understand. You can still help us out by spreading the word about period-poverty and all efforts that are being made to reduce this!

Chat to your friends & share our posts.

We are so grateful for you.
